KitchenAid KHMC1857

KitchenAid KHMC1857 - A Product Review

The KitchenAid KHMC1857WSS measures nearly two cubic feet in capacity and with a thousand Watts of power behind it, it really is an oven that can handle anything that you might need it for.

And that's not all. It has a powerful venting system, a convection cooking and baking system, and state of the art sensors that ensure that your food is done to a turn. And all this in a shining stainless steel body that is unlikely to take damage and which will complement your décor besides .

Positive points:

I'd say the strong point of this device is its convection cooking system. Many customers like convection cooking of this oven, because it gives great results if you bake, your cake or pie or cookies are baked thoroughly through and through. If you roast, you get a nice brown crust and tender interior.

Whatever you do, convection cooking of this oven does it better than on any other oven. The best part is that it even cooks the food faster than simple microwaving. It has a powerful fan that makes for a perfect cooking process. There are other good points about this device.

Like most other ovens, it has ten power levels and the usual host of cooking functions and settings – heating, defrosting, and just about any other form of cooking. You name it, and this baby can handle it.

Add to this beautiful sensors and a rack that provides for perfect two level cooking, and you have just about the perfect cooking device. Why? the KitchenAid KHMC1857 can even steam foods. The vent is also very powerful and works beautifully.

Negative aspects:

There are one or two minus points to this otherwise excellent device that perhaps the manufacturer could have a look at, though it's not that important.

For one thing, the venting fan is extremely loud. This can be a bit of an irritation when the device is running, but it's not really all that important. It's more important that the convection system works perfectly and that the vent works well than that the fan be quiet.

I would rather have an oven that cooks perfectly than an oven that is quiet. But if the manufacturer could make a fan that is a little quieter, it would be a nice additional plus point.

Another slightly negative aspect to this device is that the internal lighting is not placed too well, meaning that you sometimes can't get a clear view of the interior of the oven. But it's not much of an issue.

The interior bulb is actually burnt out in my own oven, and I didn't even bother to replace it. All in all I'd say that the advantages of the KitchenAid KHMC1857 far outweigh these slightly negative aspects.

Features:

This is a thousand Watt convection capable cooking microwave with a wide range of features that is pretty standard on most microwaves, including ten power levels, complex cooking settings, and night lighting.

Conclusion:

The feature set on this device can be found on most other microwaves. What I liked was the thought , an excellence behind the design, and above all how well it cooks, which, after all is what an oven is really supposed to do.
