The Emerson MW8997W is a middle-sized microwave that I bought specifically for price, size and brand name. The Emerson brand is a middle-of-the-road kind of brand: While you can get better brands, this brand will not leave you stranded.
I wanted to get a simpler model, but this was the cheapest model available at a local retailer that was the right size for me. The smaller sized models were too small for my cooking needs.
Being used to simpler models, there is a learning curve for this microwave, but I found it was not too difficult. The microwave includes buttons for popcorn, pizza and other food with pre-set times.
Just click the button for what food you are cooking and then it will go. It also has a handy function that lets you click a button and it will start cooking at "X" amount of minutes you punch in.
I would recommend this Emerson microwave ovens for basic purposes, but if you are not a big microwave user I would recommend trying to find a more basic model.
The MW8997W is the white-colored version of this microwave. The MW8997B is the black-colored one. The microwave cooks with 900 watts of power.
