GE Profile Microwave - JES2251SJ
We’ve had our GE Profile Microwave oven, model JES2251SJ, for about 8 months and are quite pleased with it on almost every level.
When we remodeled our kitchen, I wanted to go with all stainless steel appliances with a sleek, minimalist appearance and the Profile fit in perfectly. Even the keypad has a nice smooth feel. It fits well on the countertop.
From an aesthetic aspect, my only complaint would be that the door opens by pressing a button instead of having an actual pull-handle that lets me control the door when I’m moving dishes into and out of the microwave.
It’s got a great capacity, though, because I can put a medium-large casserole in there without any problem. It cooks evenly, too, so I don’t wind up with burnt edges and cold centers. There are quite a number of preset, one-touch options for things such as popcorn, soup, defrost and baking potatoes.
My favorite, though, is the “add seconds sensor” that will keep things warm without re-cooking them or to melt or soften things like butter and cream cheese.
However, when using the sensor feature, don’t venture too far away or it will keep reheating. I’ve learned to use a paper plate with a few holes in it or a paper towel to cover the dish, but to provide some moisture back into the dish so it doesn’t completely dry out. FYI, do not use a Styrofoam plate because it melts and plastic wrap or a lid pretty much seals it in too much and things get soggy.
Overall, I’d say the Profile has been a great microwave and I have no regrets thus far with the purchase. I hope it will continue to do as well for a long time to come.
