Which dishware that does not get hot in the microwave?

Ceramic dish with silicon carbide become very much hot in the microwave. It is because the molecular structure of silicon vibrates at the same rate of frequency as the radiation from the microwave. So the material that contains less silicon, water particle, clay etc should be less hot than others. Practically you can use any product of CORELLE, PYREX which will defiantly not burn you while removing from the oven.

How to install over the range microwave?

To install an over the range microwave you should have at least 2 ½ feet from the top of the stove to the bottom of the cabinet.

Nowadays most people have the range hood. If you need to install an OTR then you must have to remove the range hood.

At first turn off the main switch of your kitchen. Then start removing the range hood. You will get the wires after removing the range hood, which you need to power the microwave.

If you don’t have the range hood then you can get the connection from the breaker box of your kitchen by running a wire.

Install a junction box back right lower side of the cabinet and put the wires in it. Check it by putting the power on.

Now remove the wall hang plate from the back of the microwave and measure the distance inside the cabinet. It must be 30 inch.

Place the wall hang inside the cabinet and screw it with toggle bolts and screws. It will carry the load of your microwave so do it carefully.

Install microwave vents to exhaust outside.

If you think the cabinet bottom is recessed then you can use filler blocks in the places where the bolts will be placed.

Make a hole in the back side of the cabinet to bring out the microwave plug. Now put the microwave on the wall hang plate and tell your helper to hold it. Now drill holes where you are going to put the bots and screw the bolts carefully.

Get down and take your time to watch that everything is all right. Then power on your microwave and the main switch of your kitchen.

How to calculate cooking costs for microwave?

For the calculation of your cooking cost you have to determine the wattage or the power of your microwave. We know,

Wattage, P= V*A

V= voltage of your supply current (most commonly in USA it is 120 V) while A= amperage (in general it is written in the body of your microwave. You can also determine it by an ammeter)

When you will get the wattage then you have to multiple the product with the per unit cost of the electricity. The final result will be the cost per second or minute or hour (as your consideration of unit).

How to install outlet for OTR microwave?

The houses that come with a OTR (over the hang) microwave always include all the appliance like power outlet, cods, vents, exhaust fan in the wall to remove the hanging cods.

If you want to install a power outlet for your OTR microwave, just buy the perfect outlet box for your microwave.

See the manual of your oven. From there you can know what is the ampere range of your oven.

In general you can use 20 ampere branch circuit single grounded outlet. Drill four holes and screw in perfectly on the wall just beside the OTR microwave.

Plug in and turn on the supply current. You will get the connection if you have done all the things properly.

Are combination microwaves oven and microwave convection ovens the same?

No, they aren't the same.

Combination microwaves ovens are simply the combination of microwave and convection ovens. There are some practical differences between these two ovens otherwise they are almost same.

In the convection oven you can brown, roast and grill foods in a very short time with less heat. It uses the hot air circulation system which removes cold air immediately and cooks the food very quickly.

In the conventional oven it is not possible. By using the combination microwave you can enjoy the facilities like faster cooking as well as other facilities of conventional ovens.

But in the convection oven you can get the cooking done faster than any other types because there is an inbuilt process of making the hot air hotter.

How to get burnt smell out of microwave?

If you want to remove the burnt smell from your microwave totally then you have to follow a three step procedure.

  • Get a half full of an oven proof bowl of white wine vinegar and put it in the oven. Start the oven for five minutes. After stopping the microwave carefully bring out the bowl. The vinegar vapor will reduce most of the odors inside the microwave.
  • Put some slices of lemon in the bowl and half full the bowl with water. Then put the bowl in the oven and start it for five minutes. After cooking, remove the bowl. The rest odors and burnt smells will be removed and the refreshing smell will cover the full interior of the oven.
  • Make solution of water and baking soda and dip a brush in it to wash and rub the interior of the oven. After that, clean the microwave with a piece of paper. The microwave will definitely be burnt smell free.

What causes microwave to arc?

The heating procedure of a microwave is maintained by magnetron. This is nothing but radiation of energy by two magnets in a high frequency.

This high frequency energized the molecules of the cavity and food. They start vibrating at the same frequency and produce heat to cook the food.

When this high frequency energy flow is disturbed by any metallic particles, it will cause spark. Even the foods like ginger roots, grapes, or any other things which shows the semi- metallic properties will spark inside the microwave.

Can I run 220 ranges and 110 microwaves on the same circuit?

Yes you can.

But the problem is you will lose the circuit protection of the microwave. But if you use a step down transformer or adapter then you are totally protected from the circuit breaking problem. You can also add a service disconnecting box to solve this problem.
