Convection microwave ovens are the innovative merger of microwave and traditional ovens.

Typically, these units come in the medium to large sized and powered category of microwaves and they support grilling and convection heating functions. Among household appliances, Kenmore is a very popular and well known brand.

There are quite a few microwave range products from Kenmore. Interestingly though, Kenmore has not released many models that support the convection heating feature. With the trusted brand name, and added functionality, Kenmore convection microwave ovens are great additions to your kitchen.

Kenmore® Elite 6790 Series

This is a classic convection microwave oven from Kenmore with some of the best features the vendor has to offer. With 1.5cu ft capacity and 10 power levels; it is a great oven for the family.

The microwave itself is a high power one with maximum of 1000W power. This unit comes in two color variations – black and stainless steel with Black.

The unit comes with electronic touch controls that makes configuration of much simpler.

Kenmore convection microwave oven with three options for most cooking presets : Auto / Speed and Timed. The Auto is a one touch option where in you touch the presets once to start cooking.

The Speed is a faster option where in you need to enter the trim. It comes with a host of user friendly features like Auto Cooking, Speed cooking and cooking timer. You can choose from any of these to determine the kind of cooking you prefer.

Among defrost functions too, it comes with three options, Auto Defrost, timed defrost and express defrost.

Again, if it is common frozen food item, you could use the auto or express option. If it is something special, you can use the timed defrost that gives you greater control on the timing and power levels.

Among the convection features, you have the cook, auto bake and auto roast features.

Again ,if it you are cooking / baking / roasting standard stuff, you can use these one touch auto options. If you are making some specialty design and want to control the cooking or baking you can do that too.

What’s more you can actually combine the roast and bake functions to give the bread or cake that classic browning effect.

The major complaint some users have had has been the insulation feature of the oven. Apparently, this oven can get real hot when used in convection mode. Other than this, most users have found this unit a great buy and value for money.

Another discomfort is the turntable that tends to hinder your convection cooking. Some users have found that a bit of a dampener with this particular unit.

Among the feature is the Add a Minute feature. This allows you to add a minute to the cooking time without having to reset the microwave timer. This is best used when you check the food in the middle and realized that you need just that little more cooking.

Besides, the Kenmore Elite Convection Microwave also comes with warm/hold option. The warm/hold option allows you to keep the cooked food warm longer. This way you don’t have to worry about finishing certain dishes much earlier than others.

This 6790 series comes with 67902 with white color, 67909 with black color and 67903 with stainless steel color. Kenmore has MSRP price for this product at $379.99. And if you buy second hand it will down to around $150, but you can get a bargain at $120 depends on the product's condition.
