Microwave Rice Cooker - Norpro Review

This microwave rice cooker combines microwave technology and steam cooking because it heats the food via steam circulation while still maintaining moisture.

It comes with the cooker, the lid, a measuring cup and soon. At first I was cooking everything too long or too hot, so I had to experiment a little to get it right, but it works great and is easy to clean!

Moisture and fluffy rice

I love rice and when I decided to come into the 21st century and get a rice cooker I had no idea how many were out there.

That is when it got really hard. I would like to share what I learned and then you can see why this rice cooker was the perfect choice.

One thing I was sure of was that I wanted steamed rice and not boiled. Looking for the cooking method you desire is the first thing to consider.

This one has that feature. It steams rice perfectly. Every kernel is separated and fluffy.

The method can also have a great effect on the end product, I had tried another microwave rice cooker but even with me following the directions to the letter my rice came out crunchy. Then there is the other equally disastrous option of getting the rice too done which results in a mush.

Time is the key factor here, if the microwave rice cooker takes as long as the conventional method where then is the advantage. This little number cooks rice in half the time of a conventional rice cooker.

My final concern was size. Most of the ones I looked at were for one or two servings of rice. I have a family and I needed more this one cooks 4 cups of fluffy and delicious rice in half the time it would take on the range top or in the electric rice cooker.

You also have to make sure the cooker will fit inside your microwave that is why you have to check the measurements very carefully. The Norpro Cooker with lid is 6-3/4 dia. x 5-1/2 tall and will fit inside most medium sized microwave ovens.

This product can make your life a whole lot easier. And then there is not the messy starchy residue to contend with like with the conventional rice cooker.

I would recommend this one to all those who love rice but hate the fuss of cooking it.
