NATIONAL The Genius Dimension 4

by Robyn
(Lake Macquarie, NSW, Australia)

Bought this in July 1987 to reward myself for getting a top job!! Well this Micro has been a top job. The Convection didn't always function well and finally not at all, however as I really just used it to cook as a microwave it was great. Well it finally died in November 2009!! So howszat??? BEST REVIEW OUT I would say.

Good large size.

The best Microwave EVER built! (imho)
by: Mr Green

OMG! I am so sorry to hear of your recent loss. I am more and more saddened as I drive past council pick up days lately and seeing National Demension 4 The Genius microwaves on the footpath. It forces me to face the reality that my own Genius will someday too will refuse to defrost, convex, steam, grill, bake and even just reheat. Thankfully, my gem of the kitchen, which has been in service for at least 25years now is in fact fully functional (though I don't think I have ever figured all the functions out)and I'm looking forward to many more years to come.

Golden oldies...
by: Bob

I bought our Dim 4 also +- 25 years ago. It's still fully functional! Even the touch pad! What we found during those years, is that this owen is bit sensitive to low voltage. If the power drop to 210 V, the owen goes on "strike". Maybe self protecting feature. What we most appreciate is it's volume. I believe it is about 35 litres, if not more!

Death in the Family..
by: Pup Green

It is with great sadness that I advise that my wonderful oven has ceased to function. I was simply reheating and then there was a small bang. It suddenly went dark inside the oven, the timer/clock that I have relied on for so many years disappeared. Was this it, is this the way that it was going to happen.. on a cold morning with baked beans on it's gleaming white rotating tray? I stood there in my kitchen feeling totally alone, just staring at my friend that had kept me company for just under 30 years. The toast popped and scared me with a jolt.

Farewell old friend, I don't know if I should dig a hole in the park or simply put you on the footpath, like all those that have fallen before you.. waiting for the council pickup.

old friend
by: springfield27

The turntable on our National Genius has stopped rotating after 30 years of brilliant service. The Hamster inside has obviously gone to the kitchen in the sky. What a wonderful friend he's been. Obsolete! Is what we've been told when hopefully enquiring about spare parts. He never let us down. Our kids have grown up and fled the nest and set up home with their own Panasonic machines hoping for similar reliability. Our new Panasonic replacement is about half the Genius' weight and will hopefully see us out. However, it doesn't look as durable!
