Panasonic NN SD297

Panasonic NN SD297 - A Product Review

There are all sorts of options that the Panasonic NN-SD297S has that make it quite the ideal family microwave.

Of course buying just about any electronic item is a risk at the best of times – they tend to cost a lot, and if they don't work you'll find that you can't afford to replace them, and so will be stuck with the results of whatever decision you made in the store for years afterwards.

In the case of the Panasonic NN-SD297S, however, you can rest assured that it's a relatively good buy. Here's why...

Good points:

This microwave is a nice option if you don’t want an oven with a lot of 'extras' like convection cooking, for example. All you want is a simple oven that would do the most important task of all, cook efficiently and well, and that the Panasonic NN-SD297S does exceptionally well.

If you wanted Installation is easy and can be done yourself if you're reasonably handy with tools.

Well, fortunately it works best at the straightforward cooking options. There are a lot of automatic settings, of course, and you can learn a lot by seeing what settings the automatic function uses for a particular dish, and then experimenting with manual settings for other dishes that you think might be similar – you can get some very good results this way, but you'd better write down the settings that work somewhere. All in all, an excellent buy.

Negatives:

Well, not much, but perhaps the buttons could have been programmable. That would have been so useful. You have to remember the manual setting for your favorite dishes. It would have been much easier to just be able to program them into the buttons instead of the original settings, which are for dishes that you rarely cook.

Best features:

  • With two cubic feet of space, this is an oven that can satisfy the needs of even a fairly large family.
  • With 1200 watts of power behind it, you can be sure that you get the best cooking possible, no matter what power level you choose to cook at. And there are ten power levels.
  • The stainless steel body is actually fingerprint resistant, making it aesthetically very pleasing and easy to maintain.
  • The programming dials are much more intuitive than the conventional keypad or touchpad.
  • The turntable is a whole foot across, and can be switched off if not required.
  • A powerful fan provides for efficient venting.

Conclusion:

There's a great deal more that's great about this oven – a multilingual and easy to read display, sensor settings, quick cook keys, lighting on two levels.

Panasonic NN SD297 has just about everything that you'd want an oven to have, and considering that you didn't ask for too many features other than the ability to cook, it certainly satisfies you. As for the cooking, it does that too – very well!

Customer Reviews

Pros: A Microwave That Cooks Evenly. The installation was easy, and instructions were good. A great steal!

Cons: Great high end features but loss of some basic features such as can't use the timer while it's cooking, very difficult to see inside because the it has a dark window and the light is very dim.
