Sharp R 1880LS

Sharp R 1880LS - A Product Review

If you want a compact oven and wanted some more counter space, then Sharp R-1880LS seemed to be the answer.

Positive features:

One of the major influencing factors (other than my friend's recommendation, of course) was price – this was one cheap model, and considering how well it's turned out, I've never had the slightest reason to regret buying it.

You might have preferred going in for a higher powered model, but considering that you really couldn't afford one of the more expensive models (for example, from Panasonic) this really was an excellent buy.

The best part (for a cheaper model) is that it still has a perfectly functioning convection system – Many customer have tested it in a dozen different ways, but most of all, it makes excellent cookies that aren't moist on the inside, but evenly baked all the way through.

Then, as they mentioned, another consideration was size, if you wanted more space in your kitchen, and for the cooking capacity that this oven provides, it really is very compact, and that means more space in my kitchen.

Lastly, there is such a range of features, especially the sensor settings that let you heat and cook so well and so easily. And when you use the convection feature, you'll find that there's a range of programmed settings controlling that that makes it eminently easy to use.

Negative aspects:

So are there any negative aspects? Yes, of course, but they are so minor as to hardly detract from the overall ten-star rating of this piece.

One aspect that's a bit of a problem is that installation can be a bit difficult, and the instruction booklet isn't too clear – if you buy it from a store, ask if they will install it for you, and you'll save yourself a world of trouble.

Of course it's still possible to figure out the installation by yourself – it's not that difficult, but I just thought I'd mention it here. Another small issue is that the LCD display actually points downward, which can be rather a problem if you're a tall person.

Feature of the Sharp R 1880LS

  • At 850 watts it might be a little underpowered, but still enough to do most of your cooking jobs. It has a capacity of a little more than one cubic foot.
  • This is a lovely little piece, with an enviable set of features.
  • I love the stainless steel exterior and the glass window.
  • There's a vast range of automatic settings as well, allowing everything from roasts to baking.
  • The turntable is a whopping 13 inches.
  • There are racks for baking on different levels.
  • And of course this oven includes functions for auto-defrost and for warming food.
